    Jew's harp, humming iron, mouth harp, classic folk instrument, still popular today in the Alpine region, but also known in many other cultures, e.g. in Asia or Russia.

    Many names exist for this small instrument.

    A metal spoon is made to vibrate. If you hold the instrument in front of your mouth between your lips, the tones become loud because the mouth becomes the resonance body of the instrument.

    The jew's harp has a very unique sound that has something primeval about it. The jew's harp is also a shamanic instrument.

    The roots of this instrument can be traced back to pre-Christian times. Their origins are in Asia, Mongolia and Siberia.The South Asian jaw harps are built slightly differently than the European ones. They are made from a piece of sheet brass. The Danmoi from Vietnam has become known in this way.
    In Europe, the jew harp is a popular folk instrument in the Alpine region, but also in Sicily and the Balkans.

    Another form of the jews harp comes from Vietnam. Made from pure brass and especial slim.
    Each one comes with a case from bamboo for security on travelling.

    soldier drum

    We build our drums solely from natural solid woods and cow or goat skins.
    Single pieces of wood are glued together to form a round body, which is then covered on each end with skin.
    The skin, either freshly raw or dried and re-soaked, is stretched between an iron ring and a wooden ring. The skins, one on each end of the drum body, are then stretched towards one another and thonged togehter. The tension can be adjusted either by mears of small leather straps or wooden pegs.

    The wooden drums produce a warm, soft tone. The thickness of the drum skins determines the sound, which can vary from a sharp infiltrating tone to a deeply vibrating one.
    Each drum comes complete with 2 hand-turned drumsticks. Some drums can be played by hand.
    We recommend that you use linseedoil to take care of your drum. The drum skins can be kept soft and supple by rubbing them with talcum powder from time to time.

    Punteira is the spanish name of the chanter of the Gaita, the spanish bagpipe.
    With a wind-cap on the reed you can play the chanter like a shalmei.
    These instruments are made in high quality and exactly tuned like the Gaitas. With the very thin reeds they are playing easily.
