bone flutes

Rather uncommon but similar to the idea of the clay flute, the body of the flute is a hollow bone. Bone flutes have been produced for thousands of years.
Our flutes are made to a large extent from sheep and goat bones. The natural density of each bone produces each flute's unique tone. Rare pieces are made from stag bones. Such pieces are only sometimes available.
Special orders can be taken.

If you want to see and know more about bone-flutes please look at www.knochenfloeten.de

Gaita Gallega

The gaita are bagpipes which are traditionally played in spain. They are mostly made with one Bordun, sometimes with two. The pipes give a loud, relatively warm, pleasing sound.
The instruments we offer have one Bordun, a pipe in Do (C) and a 'goretex' bag covered in velvet in traditional Basque colours. The pipe is played using a wooden reed, and is very easy to master, making these bagpipes ideal for beginners.
We also offer the gaita with two borduns. They are made from strong wood. In case of interest please contact us. fingering chart
Also we are offering only the chanter of the Gaita called punteira. It is to play like a shalmei.

reed flutes

A flute from India cut from a piece of reed. According to a traditional tuning, it has only six finger holes and can therefore be played just like the tin-whistle. A good alternative to the tin-whistle with a slightly smokier and warmer sound.
The large flutes with a low pitch are a particularly favourable alternative to the low-whistle.

In addition to the recorders, reed flutes of the same type are also available as traverse flutes.

We offer the following keys for recorders and flutes:
high register in g (21 cm long), f sharp, f, e, d sharp, d (29 cm long), c sharp, c (33 cm long), b and b flat
low register in a, g sharp, G (43 cm), F and E (54 cm).

The low flutes from tuning G upwards take some practice in terms of fingering and are difficult or impossible to play with small hands.

These simple flutes are quite cleanly tuned, but the fundamental tone can deviate by up to a quarter tone.
