clay drum
This drum is similar to an Indian Nakha-Re, but instead of a metal body it is made out of a clay bowl - like form, approx. 20-25 cm in diameter. The drumskin is made from thin cow skin and the drum can be attached to ones belt by means of a string loop. It can be played either by hand or using various types of drumsticks.

Djembe
Probably the most well-known of all hand-played drums and also the most difficult to learn. The traditional african bush drum can be played very loudly once the correct technique has been mastered.
The tension of the drum can be adjusted with a little practice!

A cheap version comes from Bali. Its body is made out of two wooden parts, joined together and is massiv but lighter than the african ironwood.
The Djembe is covered with goat skin and despite its lighter weight can produce a full, rounded sound.
4 sizes are available, depends on the high:
20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm.
